A Mayan Polychrome Bowl, Circa AD 650








A sizable flare-rimmed bowl with sharply angled base. Buff terra-cotta with orange ground and 5 black and red painted seated chief figures around the exterior. The interior bears three large face glyphs and a sun disk in the center. Diameter: 19.8 cm. (7.8"). Height: ~8.2 cm. (3.2). Condition: Stable hairline age crack one side; small interior chip with minor interior paint wear; exterior paint in vivid choice condition. Provenance: Ex. Jamake Highwater collection.
