An Early Islamic Spiral Glass Bottle, Circa AD 1200.




During the middle ages, when Europe fell into decline, art and technology flourished in the Islamic world.  This bottle is an excellent example of the early Islamic glass blower's art, demonstrating fine control over the raked exterior of the piece.



Aqua green blown glass with tapering neck and the cylindrical body raked into pattern of ribbed swirls. Height: 13.0 cm. (5.1"). Condition: Choice, completely intact with subtle silvery iridescence. Price US$650. Status: Available. Order #A092.
