A Pre-Columbian Gold Nose Ring, 500 BC - AD 500




 A hammered sheet gold nose ring of flattened crescentic form, the tips of the crescent continuing on into spiral forms.  Mochica, Salidar or Chorrera cultures.



This gold nose ring gives us a hint of the fabulous wealth that drove the Conquistadors and shows the excellent skills of the ancient goldsmiths. Finer than most it has been hammered from a singler sheet of gold with excellent control of the spirally wound continuation. This nose ring is in an excellent state of preservation and with care could be worn either as a nose ring or earring. Mean Diameter: 41 x 35 mm. (1.61 x 1.38"). Weight: 2.43 gm. (0.076 Troy oz.).
