THE FOLLOWING SIX LOTS ARE ALL SECTIONS OF A SINGLE FRIEZE. The frieze depicts Vishnu as varaha-avatara, the boar incarnation, saving the goddess earth from the waters of the deep. See 'The Encyclopedia of Ancient Civilization' ed. by Arthur Cotterell, pg. 195 for a nearly identical frieze in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Ideally the sections would all be sold together and the piece restored, however most of the individual sections are fine salable works of art in their own right. If the bid on the 7th lot which combines all six pieces is larger than the sum of the bids on the individual piece lots, the pieces will be sold together as a single lot otherwise they will sell as separate lots. The only significant missing pieces are a section on the lower left side and the lower left leg and snout of Vishnu.
