5072. A CHOICE EARLY CHRISTIAN OIL LAMP. Byzantine, ca. 5th-7th century AD. The lamp with sharp raised cross in the center of the discus with four small filler holes around, a Greek legend around the shoulder of the lamp reading HAGIA TRIOC (Holy Trinity) ending in decorative borders along the spout. 3.75 inches. Remains of old collection tag affixed to bottom. Extremely rare early Christian art object with legend. Excellent condition with clear inscription somewhat better than image shows. $2750 estimate.
