5213. AN EXCEPTIONALLY LARGE MESOSAUR SKELETON. Mesosaurus brasiliensis. Permian, Brazil. The Mesosaurs were fast swimming predators which lived in fresh water, probably preying on small fish, insects and other aquatic invertebrates. They are found in Permian rocks in Brazil and South Africa, indicating that these two continents were joined at the time. The fossil measuring 18 inches in a 12 x 21 inch, 20 lb. matrix. Great detail with teeth and all digits showing. Some restoration to bones as usual. The skeletons normally found and available on the market are only 12 –16 inches long, however this one measures an amazing 29.5 inches along the backbone! $5000 estimate.

5214. A LARGE CAVE BEAR SKULL. Ursus spelaeus, Pleistocene, ca. 60,000 years. Eastern Europe. A large complete skull with all of the large teeth including the canines. This skull unusual in that the delicate interior honeycomb of the nasal bones is largely intact. The cave bear was the largest of all bears and perhaps the most formidible of the ice-age megafauna faced by early man. Paleolithic man certainly feared and apparently worshipped them as such skulls have been found on stone altars in paleolithic caves such as Chauvet in the Ardeche. 11 x 11 x 19 inches. Some neat repair as usual mostly to the mandible. $3750 estimate.

5215. A CAVE BEAR SKULL, about 80,000 BC. Found in the Vadu Crisului Körösren cave in Romania. Only the upper part and the two laniary tooth have remained, but this example shows still the impressive size of these early hunters. 50 cm long and 18 cm high. No repairs. $2750 estimate.

5216. RARE FOSSIL SKULL OF MEGALOCEROS, Megaloceros giganteus, Pleistocene. The skull was found in Bensheim/Germany. Size of span from horn to horn is 70 cm (only parts of the horns are remaining, but still an impressive skull). Height is 23 cm. Megaloceros was a large elk common in Europe. It sported perhaps the largest antler rack of any of the deer family as can be seen in the massive antler bases of the current specimen and the model (not included). $4000 estimate.

5217. A SKULL OF AN STEPP BISON, Pleistocene, found in Germany. The span from horn to horn is 90 cm and the height is 19 cm. Complete with both horns though some repair to the horn tips. $4000 estimate.

5218. A LARGE FOOTPRINT OF A DINOSAUR, found in Hungary in the 70's. After the finding place the dinosaur get the name: KOMLOSAURUS CARBONIS (town name: Komlo). The description of the Dinosaur says: A Dinosaur of small size, tridactlylous, bipedal, with narrow and long toe prints and an elogate sole cast. Mecsek coal formation, Lower Triassic. A short scientific essay comes with the footprint (Hungarian/English). Size: 24 x 23 cm in a 37 x 34 cm large slate plate. Extremly rare. $2500 estimate.

5219. A CARNIVOROUS DINOSAUR FOOTPRINT, Jurassic, ca. 130 million years. The full footprint of a carnivorous Grallator sp. dinosaur in a 25lb. chunk of red shale. The footprint 4 x 5 inches. Outlined with removable black watercolor to bring out the photo. $1750 estimate.

5235. A VERY EARLY CUP, about 4000 BC, dark brown clay, ornamented with dots, lines and a zig-zag band. 8 cm high. Found in Denmark. A nice example of Neolithic pottery. Repaired from three shards. Very early and rare pottery. $1450 estimate.

5236. A VERY EARLY CUP, about 2500 BC, brown clay, ornamented with a band of dots, 3 small handles. Found in Alt-Toeplitz near Berlin. The cup shows a crack, but is stable. Small restoration at the rim but complete. A very early cup of the European Neolithic period. 5237. A NEOLITHIC AXE, about 4000 BC. The axe head is made of flint-stone and was found in the northern part of Germany. The wooden handle is an old museum replica but the axe head is genuine! Impressive weapon of the Neolithic period. 50 cm length overall, the head is 19 cm. Museum work was done in early 60's by the Natural History Museum of Oldernburg/Northern Germany. $1450 estimate.

5240. A VERY RARE NEOLITHIC HAND MILL, about 3000 BC. The mill consists of two stones. In the middle of the stones is a hole for the axle and for filling in the grain. 5243. A RARE AND IMPORTANT NEOLITHIC DAGGER (co called "FISH-DAGGER"), made of flintstone. This very special type is only found in Northern Germany and Denmark. The stone grip of the dagger was formerly placed in a wooden grip. Length is 18 cm, width is 5,5 cm. A very nice and fine work, about 2000-1600 BC. Intact. A two page scientific essay about a similar dagger and the corresponding culture comes with the dagger. $2250 estimate.
