11513. LARGE GANDHARAN BODHISATTVA. 1st-2nd century AD. Realistically carved Buddhist princely Bodhisattva with a serene expression standing with his left arm down at his side holding a vessel, his right arm raised supporting his robe which flows from his left shoulder over his right arm. His heavy necklaces and ornate hairstyle indicate his nobility, and his large pabhamandala halo his enlightenment. Beautifully carved in fine grained grey shist. Losses to hands but all original with no repair or restoration. 32 inches height. Provenance: An extensive North Eastern collection.
