11470. EXQUISITELY CARVED MUGHAL FAI JALI (BALUSTRADE) SECTION. Mughal India, 16th-17th century. 14 h x 36 w inches. 55 lbs. Carved in fine marble openwork with calligraphic style flowers and leaves. Post knob reattached otherwise intact. Very fine highly polished white marble. The rough material on the left side and traces on the piece itself is plaster or cement which might be best removed. Reminiscent of the same style and workmanship used in the Taj Mahal. Provenance: Property of a New Jersey collector.
